Built in 1978 to a Doug Peterson design by Owner John Gould in Brighton Victoria, to compete in the 1979 Admirals Cup trials, secure a place in the Australian Team and compete in the Admirals Cup in England
1985 – Bacardi was bought by John Williams and Graeme Ainley and returned to Sandringham. Under this partnership, she completed 20 Sydney to Hobarts with notable results:
1990 – 2nd in Division
1993 – 1st in Division
1994 – 3rd in Division
1998 – 2nd overall – this was the famous storm-ravaged Sydney to Hobart race (the worst in history)
2000 – 3rd in Division
2001 – 3rd Overall + 2nd in Division
2004 – 3rd in Division
2006 – 2nd Overall – by mere minutes
2007 – she was sold to Martin Power who raced her in 6 Sydney to Hobarts.
2023 – she was bought by Brett Averay (Skipper), Darren Hunter and Cosmos Papatsaras who have been sailing her since 2017 and competed in the 2023 Sydney to Hobart.
2025- 1st in Division
