A fast and elegant yacht. Designed by Paul Stanyon (Buizen 48) and built beautifully by Boatspeed (Brindabella). Epicurus is a vessel of grand proportions, but with systems and equipment designed to ensure ease of handling and functionality. The current owners have carefully upgraded and maintained her as required, and the result is a large and powerful cruising yacht, well suited for an active couple or perhaps a larger family to explore the Pacific and beyond.
The layout offers a very large, full-beam cabin aft with a VIP cabin forward. There is a mid-cabin which offers a working sauna. - Accommodation
- The interior was comprehensively transformed to create a contemporary, apartment-style environment designed for comfortable long-term living aboard. Particular attention was given to creating high-quality living, cooking and sleeping spaces with the comfort and functionality of a modern home.The main saloon, galley and living areas were fully redesigned and rebuilt.
The original galley was removed and replaced with a sophisticated open-plan kitchen positioned within the main living space. The new kitchen features Italian Fenix cabinetry, premium integrated Miele and Liebherr appliances, including an induction cooktop, fan-forced oven, dishwasher and two integrated refrigerators. A custom 5.3-metre Italian black granite benchtop forms the centrepiece of the space, incorporating a 65-inch LG television mounted on a bespoke lift mechanism. A concealed Bose Lifestyle entertainment system provides an integrated audio solution.
The cabinetry throughout the kitchen, including the integrated refrigerators, is fitted with electromagnetic locking mechanisms to prevent doors and drawers from opening when the vessel is heeling.
The original fixed saloon seating was removed and replaced with a custom Italian-built Minotti arrangement comprising a freestanding but securely mounted lounge, chaise lounge and swivel chair. Complementing the living area is a bespoke bar constructed from carbon and solid Australian hardwood, designed to replicate the functional layout of a traditional U-shaped galley while adding to the apartment-style character of the interior.
The forward-facing navigation station to starboard has also undergone a complete upgrade. It now incorporates two latest-generation Raymarine multifunction displays, comprehensive navigation equipment, Icom VHF communications, a B&G emergency plotter and a new interior ZF electronic main engine control. Hydraulic sail controls have also been integrated into the station.
A dedicated air-conditioning monitoring display and a comprehensive main switchboard provide centralised control and monitoring of the vessel’s systems. The electrical management system includes remote controls for two new Onan generators, monitoring and switching for two new Victron charger/inverters, and comprehensive battery monitoring.
- Cabins
- The front VIP room was redesigned and the fixed queen size bed removed and replaced by a Scandinavian designer 2 seater lounge convertible into a double bed and gym equipment (removable) was introduced. Artwork from Australian nautical painter original installed on bulkhead. There are original two built in wardrobes and three built in drawers. This cabin has its own ensuite with marble flooring and benchtop, bathtub and vacuum fresh water toilet (plumbing and electrical installations overhauled) and mirrored cupboard above built in sink. Aft of the main living area is a curved staircase with book library leading to the aft owners bedroom with centreline queen bed (storage underneath), custom Italian Fenix drawer set and ample stowage space, to port a 3 seater built in lounge, a 65 inch LG Tv has been installed on the bulkhead facing the bed above the custom drawer set. Underfloor is storage for 2 Go Cycle electric foldable bikes from UK and comprehensive spare parts for all systems onboard. The ensuite includes marble flooring and benchtop, mirrored cabinets, a curved bathtub and a separate fresh water vacuum toilet with a new Japanese Toto Washlet installed (all existing plumbing overhauled). There is also storage for the Miele vacuum cleaner, a separate wetvac vacuum and a Scorkel dive set (quick dive gear). Following the curved stairwell half level down is a small hallway between a double cabin (original captain’s cabin) and a former crew cabin and a dedicated bathroom with vacuum fresh water toiled and shower. The crew cabin has been converted into a fully cedar lined sauna with Estonian Huum designer oven and glass wall/entrance. This space can be used a singe cabin with a supplied mattrass. The original captain’s cabin has been converted into a guest bedroom with double bed built in, wardrobe and 6 drawers built in. Forward to this is a walk in engine room with standup height, unusual and very appreciated in a vessel of this size. The engine room has been fully updated and renewed.

- Galley
- The original galley area to port has been transformed into a dedicated dining and entertaining space, centred around a custom dining table comfortably accommodating six guests. The built-in settee is finished in Italian Fenix and complemented by freestanding Valdenassi dining chairs.
A bespoke Italian Fenix storage cabinet provides dedicated space for dinnerware and additional provisions, while a concealed 130-litre domestic Haier deep freezer and new Sharp microwave have been integrated into the area for added functionality.
The starboard side features a dedicated wine nook designed for both entertaining and extended onboard living. The space includes a custom-built Italian Fenix settee, bespoke glass storage for Riedel red and white wine glasses, and a 150-bottle Vintec wine refrigerator. The area has also been upgraded with a larger-capacity air-conditioning air handler and new control system, providing improved climate control and comfort throughout the interior. A new Miele washing machine and separate dryer was installed in a hidden cupboard with doors (Italian Fenix) in the hallway forward to port.

- Bilge Pumps
- New high volume 240V emergency bilge pump system has been installed in the engine room, plumbed to all bilges via two manifolds in addition to dedicated maintenance 24 V bilge pumps (9 of) in all bilges with centralised bilge alarm at navigation station.

- New lithium ion batteries (1600 AH at 24 volt) in dedicated separate battery room installed and approved by insurance company (Pantaenius) with two new Victron 5kw each charger/inverters and a dedicated main engine starter and separate generator starter battery charger, new main engine batteries and two new separate generator starter batteries. The system can supply all hotel loads for up to 12 hours including air conditioner without generator supply (quite mode). 4 solar panels (flexible on fixed hard Bimini, non visible) and 50AH solar charger connected to system for long term slow supply (if the refrigeration systems are turned om, this maintains the batteries if the vessel is in long term storage).

All sail control on star port helm and separate at inside navigation station (back up!). Hydraulic captive winches installed in dedicated winch room under dining area for optimal weight distribution: captive main halyard, captive main sheet, captive foresail sheet; hydraulic Reckman foresail furler. The vessel can be sailed with push button control from the star port helm by one person including setting and retrieving main sail. All sail control function have a second electric/ hydraulic back up at navigation station and a manual override. The electric pumps mounted on the hydraulic tank in engine room have capacity for all sail control, no need for engine PTO or generator PTO; quite mode.
