Antipodes is a Bill “The Wizard” Lee’s custom Santa Cruz 72, built by prestigious US yard NEB in Newport, Rhode Island. The current owner purchased her and did an extensive re-fit in 2012 which included a new bow sprit, generator, air conditioning, all new electrical and electronics.
She is the last of the big Santa Cruz’s to be built. In fact, she enjoys a slightly longer waterline and slightly wider beam than the original Santa Cruz design. Hence, being titled a Santa Cruz 72.
Antipodes has been on an exciting tour around Asia and the Pacific, competing in major races or regattas around the region. The boat continues to be successful and currently holds the Darwin to Ambon Race record of 52hrs, 29min set in 2016!
She is now preparing for the Sydney to Hobart Race and has a full-time, professional crew. The boat is properly maintained which includes recent slipping and very striking new blue topsides re-paint. With a spacious open plan below with timber and white painted interior, Antipodes is a very comfortable yacht, and with some slight conversion could be a comfortable, fast cruising boat.
We welcome both racers and cruisers to inspect this very special sailing yacht!
