Apollo II looking for her new custodian!

‘Apollo II’ is a vessel steeped in history, originally owned by Allan Bond from 1972 – 1976 and used as a training yacht for America’s Cup crew. In 1971, she represented Australia in the Admirals Cup series along with ‘Ginico’ and ‘Ragamuffin’ with a 2nd place finish.  1977 and 1979 she was SYC Club Champion and 1976-1979 the winner of many Bay and Ocean races in Victoria whilst at the SYC.

She was then acquired by her present owner in 1994 and sailed in her 15th Sydney to Hobart and 50th year of the race, where she featured on the cover of Richard Bennett’s commemorative book of the race (featured above).  Since then, she has sailed to Coffs Harbour, completed several Pittwater to Coffs Yacht races, sailed to Lord Howe Island and the Whitsunday group of Islands, and is now located in Iluka in Northern NSW.  She is a great fast cruiser, a comfortable ride at sea now looking for her new custodian.
